Lisa Takashashi references the Grosvenor School in her linocuts (Cyril Power, Sybil Andrews; Lill Tschudi, see Artists). She pares down detail to find essential shapes, and uses geometry to emphasise form. She concentrates often on movement and sport, specifically, in many of her prints, on cycling where she finds a natural geometry both in the shapes of the individual cyclists and in the pattern produced by the group.
Lisa Takahasi has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, London (where
her print ‘Chain Gang’ – see Prints – quickly sold out); at the Royal
Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London,
and the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. She has contributed to
many group shows across Europe, and is collected by private individuals
world-wide.
