Alistair Little – The Scout

Alistair Little’s work is influenced by a love of cinema, especially films of the 50’s and 60’s.

His work is held in the private collections of Jack Vettriano and Michelle Dotrice.

Alistair Little began his artistic career in his late teens in film and television, where he focused on model-making and design. At the age of 22 he moved on to become a freelance commercial illustrator, training and working primarily in advertising. Early commissions included an independent comic strip and graphic design work along with storyboard work for the advertising industry.

After five years illustrating he started applying the strong draughtsmanship skills he had gained to painting. Through early exhibitions in local galleries his work gained in confidence and found its own unique identity.

Since 2005, his work has featured in several sell out solo shows, a number of group exhibitions and many London based and International Art Fairs. Alistair’s work has also been featured in several calendars and on greetings cards and book covers.

Through the use of strong tones and high contrast he strives to achieve a feeling of mood and intensity, whilst leaving a question mark over the true meaning of the piece. The effect remains spell binding, his talent for story telling is prodigious, every work fraught with narrative tension and unanswered questions.

The Scout is taken from his successful one man exhibition “Journeyman”, this evocative collection of limited edition prints reflects Alistair’s fascination with the USA and it’s iconic painters and illustrators.

Recalling the great American road movies and cast in the dual moulds of Film Noir and the truly sensational Pulp Fiction novels, these highly charged and very collectable images are available through Union Art in strictly limited editions of 75 copies. All editions are hand signed and numbered by the artist. Printed with Epson Ultrachrome lightfast inks onto 255g/m² Somerset® Enhanced Fine Art Inkjet Paper Material approved by Fine Art Trade Guild. All prints Conservation mounted, hinged and presentation wrapped. All mounted items hard-backed with conservation board, and complete with a Certificate of Authenticity risographed onto 200gsm recycled card using light, fast soya based inks.
