We are proud to introduce another new artist to Union Art's amazing group of talented artists. Richard S. Johnson is an award winning contemporary American painter. He was born in Chicago to a family of artists. While at primary school, Richard was accepted as a scholar to the Art Institute of Chicago. He then went on to attend the American Academy of Art. Upon graduating he began a very successful career as an illustrator.
Turning his attentions to fine art after winning a competition in International Artists Magazine, Richard was invited to Japan where his one man show was so successful that he has been invited back numerous times and has developed an international base of collectors. He has also won many awards in competitions in the United States including the Award of Excellence, in the Oil Painters of America 2003 Midwest regional Juried Competition.
Richard Johnson has also made portraits of historical personalities, such as former US president John F. Kennedy and former NASA administrator Richard H. Truly. He was also commissioned to create a commemorative painting honouring former US presidents. The painting is currently on display at the President's Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition in Washington, D.C.
