Have you just returned from the Goodwood Festival of Speed?
Held this weekend at the grounds of the prestigious Goodwood House, it is the largest motoring garden party in the world. It brings together cars, stars and motorsport ‘royalty’. Visitors were treated to an array of cars and motorbikes from over 100 years of worldwide motor racing history. The three day event attracts 150,000 visitors and this year the festival celebrated its 20th anniversary.
As a tribute to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weeks ‘Artwork of the Week’ is a piece from the leading motorsport artist Nicholas Watts. Nicholas’ passion for capturing a moment in time came from when he was a young boy. He lived near Brands Hatch and the experience of watching motorsport from an early age had a profound effect on him. Combining his love of motorsport with a career as an artist, Nicholas has been painting professionally for more than two decades, producing Limited Edition Prints and one-off commissioned originals. Nicholas Watts‘ respected work has enabled him to build strong relationships with a variety of successful racing drivers, team owners and personalities, with the result that most of his prints bear a relevant original signature or two.
Nicholas’ passion for motorsport is clear to see in his work. Moss the Master shows the first Grand Prix victory for Stirling Moss in the 1955 Grand Prix held at Aintree. The image depicts his winning Mercedes W196 leading team mate Fangio. This Limited Edition Print is signed by Nicholas Watts and Sir Stirling Moss and is an edition of just 50.
