To celebrate the Oscars this weekend our Artwork of the Week this week is the iconic model, actress and singer Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn Monroe was born in Los Angeles in 1926 and became a major sex symbol, starring in a number of successful films during the 1950's and early 1960's. In 1962 at the age of just 36 She sadly died. In 1999, Marilyn was ranked as the sixth greatest female star of all time by the American Film Institute and in 2009, TV Guide Network named her No.1 in Film's Sexiest Women of All Time.

This beautiful black and white photograph sees Marilyn getting ready, dated 1955, the photograph  captures an intimate moment with Marilyn in her bedroom. The lighting on Marilyn magnifies her natural beauty and elegance, she really was stunning.  The photograph is set in a white mount and framed in a simple square black frame to compliment the picture.
