Elizabeth James

Elizabeth James was drawn to photography from just nine years old after being given her first automatic camera. From that day her camera became like an extra limb; freezing a moment in time through the lens, looking for the interesting within the ordinary.

Her work often involves taking a closer look, viewing the world from a different perspective, up close and personal. Simplifying, highlighting, showcasing and simply conveying the atmosphere, in an instant often missed by the naked eye.

Exploration of the texture and the essence of a subject, embracing colour or tone and observing shape and form in greater detail, continues to spurs her on. Capturing a subject as seen through her eyes forms at times a psychological and spiritual connection that remains very fulfilling.

Elizabeth James finds photography rewarding and liberating and hopes to travel to experience different cultures and visually document her encounters, seeking to grow, progress and explore different dimensions of her photography.

The art form of photographic expression has not only helped Elizabeth James overcome personal adversities but assisted her journey of self discovery and aspiration.
