Frederic Flanet

Frederic Flanet was born in Poissy in 1963. A self-taught artist who turned professional in 1990. Preferring to work in oils, his works painted either by brush or liberally with a palette knife, express the translucency, the exceptional light and the seeming calm of the elements.

It was only after an idyll at sea that his love affair with Brittany began and inspired him to concentrate his work between the richness of the land, the ever changing tonal colours of the sky but mostly the vastness and unpredictable nature of the seas.

A fanatical sailor, Frederic Flanet now lives in Brittany close to his boat and is enjoying enormous success both in France and abroad. As his work is highly sought after, Frederic Flanet’s primary concern is managing to satisfy his two great loves - being able to paint enough pictures and still find time for his marine voyages all over the world!
