Mary Batchelor attended Glasgow School of Art under the tutelage of Peter Howson, David Linley and Norrie Kirkham.
Mary Batchelor works in acrylic and is primarily a landscape painter working full-time from studios in Helensburgh and Glasgow. She finds travel a great source of inspiration, enjoying the scope and challenge it provides.
She is an artist member of Paisley Art Institute, and actively participates within the Royal Glasgow Institute and Scottish Artists and Artist Craftsmen.
Her work is much sought after at home and abroad, with paintings in private and corporate collections in London, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Japan, the Czech Republic, USA and Australia.
Mary Batchelor has exhibited widely, both at home in the UK and across the Channel in France. Her work is in demand for solo shows and group exhibitions all over the country and she received the top MacRoberts Solicitors Prize at Mayfest in 1997. Selected annually as an exhibitor at regional stage for the Laing Art Prize.
