As darkness and rain fall over the Sarthe, the Corvette of John Fitch and Bob Grossman leads the Ferrari of Gendebien and Frere past the pits. Of the three Cunningham Corvettes entered, Fitch was fastest in practice and it was his car that won the important GT category against strongest opposition.
