Scott McGregor

Scott McGregor was born in 1965 and brought up in Largs, a small seaside town on the West Coast of Scotland.

In his spare time Scott McGregor has painted for over 20 years and has mastered a style of painting which is realistic and sometimes merging into impressionism depending on the subject matter. With the use of vibrant colours on his palette he applies the paint using a palette knife to get roughened texture of a landscape, or a brush when painting figures for a more subtle and detailed approach.

When painting his Wave series, he wanted to capture movement and a feeling of noise with some of them, while the others express peace and quietness, creating a calm painting. Being brought up on the coast helped to inspire these paintings of waves, Scott McGregor loves the way the sea changes with the light, creating different moods and atmosphere which he hopes is portrayed in his work.
